I have 2 Ithaca's from the late 1940's in 16 gauge. I refinished and tubed one with steel safe choke tubes. I have a lot of bismuth shot as well to feed the other. I bought a short skeet barrel for my son's M37 from the late 60's, another 16 gauge, and steel 4's for ducks have not hurt its rotoforged barrel. It cost me $50I have a Ithaca Model 37 12 Gauge 2 3/4" Chamber, 30" Barrel with a deluxe Poly Choke. Serial Number 156090 I think the gun was made in the forties because it was my uncles. The price for it seems pretty decent and it is in fabulous shape. I went out and did some shooting with it and it fits nice and feels good against my shoulder.

My 37 is a "Supreme Grade" trap. It has AA grade wood which is more dense and therefore heavier than a lot of 12g 37's at 7 1/2 pounds. The stocks on these were conventional (non-montecarlo) trap stocks; 1 1/2" at comb, 1 7/8" at heel, 14 3/8" L.O.P. with the trademark Ithaca recoil pad. I later added a 26" Deerslayer BBL and a 26" IMCYL with a rib. The Deerslayer BBL was a smooth bore with rifle sights.

Like.If the barrel was born as a modified choke, putting a 3 position adjustable on it would only utilize 2 of the 3 choke settings, modified and full, unless the barrel was shortened before the monstrosity was added.
