Got my antifreeze changed out. Didn't get anything but a drop out of the drain bolt with the copper washer - yep the rad cap was off, so I pulled the hose off to drain it. A little messy but got it done. Used the Prestone Extended Life Dex cool pre-mixed. Hope the orange color mixes with the green ok. 2003 VTX 1800R.

The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilator) hose is attached to the intake to burn the fumes vented by the engine. Oil comes along with the fumes. If you have the stock air box, there should be a clear tube under the air box to catch some of the oil. Drain the tube and wipe out the throttle with a dry cloth. I doubt you would have a problem with 75-140. Ford makes a 75-140 synthetic that is the specified lube for the rear diff in my Expedition. I was thinking about putting that in the VTX- it's more of a heavy duty oil- Plus- any synthetic will flow at very low temps- even in Alaska. That is one of their advantages.

I just got back from a 4600 mile Adirondack tour and it has put the X over the 100 K mark. The only way to either drain or re-fill inverted (VTX 1800) forks is through the large cap at the top. It can get stuck pretty easily so you want to be sure you use a box end wrench or you'll likely round the corners and then really have a problem. Somtimes a little heat is also necessary to get them to release.
