As you add new tier of houses to represent later stages of the game, you could make the chair and fireplace fancier, and allow time to fast-forward 100% ... At that rate it would take 900+ hours of gameplay (if one day is about 30min) for one heir to be old enough to succeed you. The seasons are shorter by default so you can get through years quicker and build your dynasty. But if you enjoy taking your time and doing other things, then play how you like! :)
